Report a calculation error
If a result looks wrong, put "calculation error" in the subject line. These details let us reproduce the problem quickly:
- The page address or calculator name.
- Every input you entered, including options such as HELP debt or pay cycle.
- The result we showed and the figure you expected.
- Where your expected figure came from, such as a payslip, an ATO tool or your notice of assessment.
We recheck the calculation against the ATO formula and the official rate for that year. If we find an error, we fix it.
Differences that aren't errors
Some differences are expected rather than errors. Payroll systems, for example, may round or time payments differently from our weekly, fortnightly and monthly figures.
A calculator estimate will also differ from your notice of assessment if you had income, deductions or offsets it doesn't model. Each calculator page lists what it leaves out, so please check that list before reporting.
General enquiries
Put "general enquiry" in the subject line for questions about how a calculator works, suggestions for new calculators, or problems using the site. For questions about how we handle your information, use "privacy request" as the subject; the privacy policy explains your rights.
We read every message. Suggestions for new calculators help us decide what to build next, so tell us what you were trying to work out. We may not reply to messages that ask for advertising, links or guest posts.
What we cannot help with
We can't give personal tax, financial or legal advice. That includes telling you what to claim, how to structure your income or super, or how the ATO will treat your situation. The terms of use explain the limits of what our calculators provide.
We also can't access your ATO records, lodge returns, or contact the ATO or your employer for you. For those questions:
- The ATOHandles your tax records, payments and lodgment.
- A registered tax agentCan give advice about your own circumstances.
- A licensed financial adviserCan help with super and investment decisions.
- The Fair Work OmbudsmanAnswers questions about pay rates and workplace entitlements.
