Reading the table: residents, no HELP, 2026-27 rates
Each row assumes one job, a full year of Australian residency and no HELP debt. Super is paid on top of these salaries. For a package that includes super, divide the package by 1.12 to find the salary to look up. Foreign residents and working holiday makers pay different rates, covered by the foreign resident tax calculator and the working holiday maker calculator.
Why take-home pay grows more slowly at higher salaries
On $20,000 you keep 100.0% of your pay. On $300,000 you keep 64.4%. The rates step up at $45,000, $135,000 and $190,000, and only the dollars above each threshold are taxed at the higher rate. A raise from $130,000 to $140,000 adds $6,450 of take-home, while a raise from $60,000 to $70,000 adds $6,700.

| $200,000 | $140,130 | $120,130 | $20,000 |
Repayments start once repayment income passes $69,528. The HECS repayment calculator also shows how many years the debt will take to clear.

Does this table include super?
No. Super guarantee of 12% is paid by your employer on top of these salaries. A $100,000 salary attracts about $12,000 of employer super, which doesn't appear in your take-home pay.
What if my salary is not in the table?
Use the pay calculator for any amount. It also handles weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles, salary sacrifice and HELP.
Why does my payslip show slightly different tax?
Employers use ATO withholding tables, which round earnings each pay. The table here shows the tax you owe for the full year. Small differences come back as a refund or a bill when you lodge.
